Fair and Ata Carnet
What is ATA Carnet?
ATA Carnets are customs documents that provide temporary import and export of goods between the parties, without the need for any other document, within the scope of the International Temporary Import Agreement (Istanbul Convention for short) and its Annexes.
The ATA System is carried out under the coordination of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) and the World ATA Carnet Council (WATAC) within the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) through the guarantor organizations that are declared to be officially assigned in their own countries.
For What Purpose Is It Used?
The International ATA System has been established to provide benefits to parties performing temporary importation procedures such as customs authorities, individuals, organizations and entities.
There is no need for any other action, neither by the customs nor the importer, during the import process for all the goods that come with an ATA carnet under international guarantee.
ATA carnets, which are simple and easily issued by the carnet holder, can also be easily checked by the customs. All these factors help to shorten the transit time of the goods coming with the ATA Carnet, both in importing and re-exporting them. In addition, the system offers ATA carnet holders the opportunity to make more than one temporary importation to more than one contracting party country with an ATA carnet, provided that the ATA carnet is valid for one year (this period is one year from the date of issue of the carnet).
